What it is

SmartControl is a remote switching device for DC circuits. It is fitted in line between the battery and the load and lets an operator apply or cut power from a handheld remote without walking up to the equipment. Typical uses: switching equipment on at a remote position, de-energising gear that cannot be approached at that moment, and power control inside field technical systems. The device is offered as an add-on for BarrierPilot systems and for 12–30 V battery systems in general.

How it works

The device draws power from the same battery it is wired into, so no separate supply is needed. Its own consumption is about 18 mA, excluding the load. The receiver picks up the command from the remote and a power relay closes or opens the circuit. The remote has two buttons, ON and OFF. After power is applied the device is always in the OFF state — the load stays disconnected, and it will not switch itself on when power is restored. Control range is up to 1 km in open terrain with line of sight and the telescopic antenna extended; with the antenna retracted the range is noticeably shorter. Connection is through XT60 connectors with strict polarity, and a fuse rated for the actual load current is installed in the power circuit.

Configurations and custom orders

The base build is single-channel with two remotes in the kit. Other configurations are produced to order where the changes do not degrade the device's characteristics. The limits matter: SmartControl is a switch, not a BMS, not a charger and not an over-discharge protection for the battery. With inductive, capacitive or pulsed loads the actual duty must be verified by the integrator — inrush currents of such loads can exceed the device's ratings. Connection to AC mains is prohibited.
