What it is
EchoPilot is a system for intercepting analogue video from FPV drones, including fixed-wing types. It covers four bands at once — 1.2, 3.3, 4.5 and 5.8 GHz — and lets you see the same picture the drone operator sees. In practice that gives a unit three things: an understanding of where an aircraft came from and where it is heading, material for route analysis, and a general picture of air activity in the area.
How it works
The system consists of a detection module, a set of directional patch antennas for the four bands, an LTE/Wi-Fi access point and a lithium battery. Everything is mounted and wired inside an IP65 enclosure at the factory, so nothing has to be assembled in the field. The detection module scans automatically: 80 channels across 1010–1800 MHz, 120 channels across 2860–4060 MHz, 89 channels across 4000–4890 MHz and 120 channels across 4860–6060 MHz. A full sweep of all bands takes about 25 seconds. Once an active video channel is found, the signal is intercepted, delivered over LAN and streamed to the internet through the access point — LTE, Wi-Fi or a Starlink terminal. Control is fully network-based, so the operator can work remotely.
Key advantages
- Four bands in a single enclosure — 1.2, 3.3, 4.5 and 5.8 GHz, no separate receiver per frequency.
- Directional patch antennas with 9–15.8 dBi gain for reliable reception at ranges of several kilometres.
- Fast scanning: roughly 25 seconds for all four bands.
- Hybrid 12–28 V DC power: mains through a converter, or the supplied 24 V 60 Ah lithium battery.
- IP65 enclosure, operation from −20 °C to +50 °C, about 4 kg without battery and mast.
- Mounts on a standard mast or can be concealed within urban or terrain features.
- Remote viewing and control over the network — the operator does not need to be at the installation point.
Configurations and custom builds
The standard build covers four bands: 1.2, 3.3, 4.5 and 5.8 GHz. On request the system can be supplied in other configurations to match a specific task, provided the changes stay within the technical specification and do not degrade performance. We build to order and adapt the product to real operating conditions rather than the other way round.
